The EMG Conversion Kit (J Set) is the wiring harness for installing an EMG active Jazz Bass pickup set (J Set, J-CS Set, J-JV Set, or any two-pickup active J-format configuration) without soldering. The kit ships with the 25K low-impedance pots that EMG's active bass circuit needs to see, wired to the standard Jazz Bass control layout of volume, volume, tone, along with a pre-terminated output jack, a battery clip and the solderless quick-connect cables that plug the two J pickups into the harness. Everything a Jazz Bass needs to move from passive to EMG active in an afternoon, no soldering iron on the bench. Within the wider EMG Conversion Kit family it sits alongside the PJ Set kit for split-and-single Precision-plus-Jazz configurations and the guitar-format 1/2 PU active kits. The choice between the J Set kit and the PJ Set kit is set by the pickups in the bass: two matched Jazz Bass single-coils use the J Set kit, while a Precision split-coil at the neck plus a Jazz bridge single-coil uses the PJ Set kit with its differently-configured wiring. The 25K pot value on the active kits is not interchangeable with 250K passive values, so the harness must match the pickups. Fits any Jazz Bass or J-format bass routed for two active EMG pickups, with the standard volume, volume, tone control layout. Runs on a single 9V battery shared between both EMG actives on the harness. Distributed and supported in the UK by Selectron.
