Classic, elegant and full of light, the Solid Oak External French Door is a timeless way to open up an entrance, and because it's genuine solid oak, it has the substance to match its looks. About the Solid Oak French Door Also known as the "Pattern 10", the French door is one of the most enduring designs there is: a slim oak frame around a generous glazed panel that fills a hallway with natural light. Fit two side by side as a pair (the "Pattern 20") or a single leaf on its own, and it brings that classic look to an external opening in a door that's built to last. Solid oak, not veneer Here's the difference that matters. Most French and Pattern 10 doors on the market are made with a veneer over a manufactured core; ours is crafted from 100% solid oak throughout. That means the real depth, grain and natural colour of genuine timber, a door with proper weight and substance, and the character only solid oak brings, with no two exactly alike. Glazing The French door is supplied unglazed, so the glass is yours to choose. Go for a standard clear double-glazed unit, or something with more character such as leaded or lightly tinted glass, to suit the look and feel of your room. The glazing aperture is approximately 1690 × 618mm; this is a guide based on the visible pane, so please use it for quotes only and confirm the exact size once your door has arrived before ordering your glass. Sizes The door is 44mm thick and made in one standard size (1981 × 838mm, or 78 × 33"). If you need a different size, we make these to order as a bespoke door; just contact our sales team and they'll talk through your requirements. Finishing & Care As it's made from solid oak, the French door is best kept out of the most exposed spots, away from direct rain or hot sun, and fitted somewhere sheltered such as under a porch or canopy. It's supplied unfinished, so it will need a treatment made for external use before it's hung; we recommend the Impranol range for external doors. Oak Weather Bar We also supply a matching Oak Weatherbar, which will be needed if the door is open to the elements.
