Sugar measurement in the food industry rarely reduces to a single scale — Brix tells one story, Fructose content another, Invert sugar a third. The VEE GEE Scientific MDX-103 Digital Sugar Refractometer consolidates 6 measurement scales into a single instrument: Dextran, Fructose, Invert Sugar, Lactose, Sucrose, and Glucose. Switch between scales on the same sample without changing instruments or recalibrating — each scale displays on the same large LCD with temperature shown simultaneously. IP65/67 rated and ATC-equipped, the MDX-103 is built for production environments where sugar profile analysis moves between process checkpoints. The Continuous Loop Average function captures multiple readings from a single sample load and averages them for tighter measurement confidence. Includes hard shell case, disposable pipette, and battery. Features and Benefits 6 Sugar Measurement Scales in One Instrument: Dextran, Fructose, Invert Sugar, Lactose, Sucrose, and Glucose — switch between all 6 scales on the same sample without recalibration or instrument change. Automatic Temperature Compensation (ATC): Temperature-corrected readings referenced to 20°C — eliminates manual correction tables for samples at varying process temperatures. IP65/67 Rated: Dust-tight and water-jet resistant — suitable for production lines, quality control labs, and field sampling environments where moisture exposure is expected. Continuous Loop Average: Automatically averages multiple successive readings from a single sample load — particularly valuable for viscous sugar samples where prism wetting may vary between measurements. LCD with Simultaneous Scale and Temperature Display: Selected scale result and real-time sample temperature display together on the LCD — no switching between screens to check measurement conditions. Full Kit Included: Hard shell case, disposable pipette, AAA battery, and user manual included — ready for immediate deployment. Select the appropriate scale from the instrument menu — all 6 share the same calibration. When would I choose MDX-103 over MDX-101 or MDX-102?Choose MDX-103 when your application requires measurement of specific sugar types beyond Brix — particularly fructose, lactose, dextran, or glucose. For general Brix/sugar content, MDX-101 or MDX-102 are more cost-effective. MDX-103 is the instrument for food labs analyzing sugar composition rather than total sugar content. Can I use MDX-103 for honey moisture?Yes — MDX-103 measures Brix on its Sucrose scale, which is usable for honey moisture estimation. However, the MDX-301 Honey Refractometer (48301) is specifically calibrated for honey analysis with dedicated Moisture Content, Aw, and Baumé scales. Quality Assurance VEE GEE Scientific MDX-Series refractometers are manufactured to IP65/67 standards with factory-calibrated prism assemblies. Each unit undergoes ATC performance verification and LCD display testing prior to shipment. The hard shell carrying case provides drop protection for field deployment. VEE GEE backs the MDX series with a 1-year warranty.
