Subsequence is a bilingual, semi-annual magazine published by Cubism Inc., the parent company of visvim. Founded and edited by Kosuke Ide, the magazine explores global arts, crafts, design, travel and culture through richly photographed essays and long-form storytelling. Guided by the theme “Arts & Crafts for the Age of Eclectic”, each issue celebrates craftsmanship, creativity and cultural heritage from diverse perspectives around the world. Centered on the theme Moment, Subsequence Volume 03 examines how ordinary experiences and overlooked memories can take on new significance over time. A standout feature, Clothing As Memory, sees contributors such as Tetsu Nishiyama and Kyle Field reflect on pivotal life moments through personal photographs and garments. The issue also spans architecture, craft and cultural history, with features on Hiroki Nakamura’s restoration of Richard Neutra’s Schaarmann House, Bruno Taut’s influence on Japanese bamboo weaving, Jordan Nassar’s embroidered textiles, master gardener Sadao Yasumoro, alongside photography by Sune Jonsson and fiction by Etgar Keret. 168 pages 26 x 37 cm Bilingual in English and Japanese
